Some Leave, Some Return: June 2024 Digest

Hololive's Friend A departs, Kizuna AI is set to return, plus more stories on events, meetups, sports and what was up in the VTuber scene last month.

Friends, the end of the month proved busy for everyone at VTuber NewsDrop and the wider VTubing scene, as we have been informed of Friend A's departure from COVER; as well as the incoming return of Kizuna AI following all that have happened inside her agency.

We also received at the last few moments before we began writing this recap the end of Heavenrend (July 15), with graduations from its last two members happening prior; as well as eirene departing from Projekt Nova leading to the group's closure soon. Kite Hasegawa is also taking a break for studies by August.

Mion Akuma has left AuroraLiveVR, and Abi Kadabura left V4Mirai. The voice talent behind Lumi Celestia also left MAHA5.

Brave group is in hot water for a confirmed data leak (it gets deeper), but VSPO's English-speaking branch kicked off with a shebang of interactive debut streams (you should watch them). In related news, Kadokawa's NicoNico video service also got hit with a cyber-attack.

NIJISANJI unfortunately has to cancel its Anime Expo concerts – but they still pushed through the Summer Jam events to be streamed online. Meanwhile in Japan, we are introduced to Lunlun and their AYAKAKI colleagues.

Nornis will sing the ending theme song for the anime adaptation (Japanese dub) of web manga The Girl Downstairs. Tokino Sora on the other hand sings the opening theme for the adaptation of the manga My Wife Has No Emotion.

YouTube was said to be chasing against Bunny Garden streams after many VTubers tried the game on stream, including some from the big 2 agencies.

But the biggest news this week: hololive English -Justice-, where most of them hail from the Eurozone. COVER Corp CEO Motoaki Tanigo went all-out to explain the company's expansion plans.

We've also been to ONLive last weekend, giving advice for VTubers to consider interacting with other publications aside from taking their promotions on X/Twitter.

Dokomi also happened on the same weekend as ONLive, where Doki met with her European dragoons (even she knows who this guy is).
