hololive Down Under Gives Australia Its First Major VTuber Concert at DreamHack

Six hololive stars are heading to Melbourne for the Down Under concert at DreamHack Australia 2024 on April 27.

After lighting up audiences in Japan and North America, hololive is bringing its next major streamed concert to Australia as part of DreamHack Australia 2024.

Announced on March 21 local time, hololive x DreamHack Down Under promises a fully-fledged concert featuring six of the agency’s top stars on April 27.

Japan, Indonesia, and English talents will be represented on stage at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, which has a maximum capacity just shy of 15,000.

Houshou Marine and Tokoyami Towa will fly the flag for hololive JP, with Pavolia Reine and Kureiji Ollie returning down under after their last Australian appearance at SMASH 2023

The big draw for the Australian crowd will be hometown hero Hakos Baelz, partnering up with Mori Calliope on the EN side.

Hakos Baelz will be leading hololive's first Australian concert at DreamHack.

Fans attending DreamHack Australia will be able to guarantee seats to see the stars live by purchasing an upgrade on top of the festival’s general entry of $45 AUD ($30) for one day, or $99 AUD ($65) for three days.

Guaranteed entry to the Saturday concert will cost $49 AUD ($32) extra for a standard package.

However for $89 AUD ($59) extra, you can get the best seats in the house plus the chance to win a meet and greet with one of the attending talents.

And if you cannot make it to Australia for the three-day festival of esports, gaming and pop culture, there will be a streaming ticket available for 4,420 JPY ($30). This also includes VOD access for four weeks after the concert.

“Bringing a hololive production 3D concert to Australia for the first time as part of DreamHack Melbourne is an incredible opportunity, and the first time a VTuber group has performed a concert at Rod Laver Arena,” said Ben Green, the Senior Product Manager at DreamHack.

“The addition of this innovative pillar of content is a way for us to provide a space for VTuber communities, as we build DreamHack Melbourne into a festival where all elements of gaming culture and lifestyle intersect.”

DreamHack Australia previously played host to star podcast group Trash Taste with their first live show in 2023

A number of Australian VTubers have also been accepted as creators for DreamHack in 2024, including GammaInkk, Kaboodle, Siia Kiname, Duckie, Kokobelle, Lani Berri, and Akariteru.

DreamHack Australia 2024 takes place across April 26 to 28.
