Update as of 6:08pm JST: Fans have also pointed out that the Japanese copy of Yozora Mel's termination announcement notes that the decision was done in agreement with the talent.

Moments after, the talent has a final message which management posted on her Twitter/X account, wherein she regrets her actions. The original story is posted below.

Veteran hololive VTuber Yozora Mel has been fired from the prestigious organization, effective immediately, for leaking confidential information.

COVER Corp announced the news on January 16, stating “it has been confirmed that Yozora Mel has been engaging in acts that violated her contract by leaking information to third parties that she acquired from the company.

“As a result, we have determined that it has become difficult to continue managing and supporting her and have elected to make this decision.”

Yozora Mel is one of hololive’s earliest VTubers, having debuted as part of the official first generation back in May 2018 alongside Aki Rosenthal, Natsuiro Matsuri, Shirakami Fubuki, and Akai Haato. She was expected to celebrate her sixth anniversary later in 2024.

Yozora Mel was streaming up until her termination on January 16. Her last broadcast was on January 14.

Mel was a staple of hololive’s group content, often taking part in 3D concerts and the Summer events. At the time of her termination, she had 878,000 YouTube subscribers and 769,000 Twitter followers.

Mel’s YouTube channel will be deleted by the end of February 2024, as well as her other social media channels.

“We are taking this matter very seriously, and we intend to make further efforts into instructing our affiliated talents on compliance matters, so that similar incidents do not happen again in the future,” Cover concluded.

Her termination is the third in hololive’s history. Old genmate Hitomi Chris was terminated within weeks of debuting for the agency in June 2018 for breaching her contract. Uruha Rushia was too booted from the agency in February 2022, also for leaking information.
