Veteran Gaming, Entertainment Exec Justin Scarpone Joins AKA Virtual as Senior Advisor
Scarpone said that he is excited to work with AKA Virtual to provide their next generation storytelling and character development methods to gaming, video, and internet companies.
Japanese entertainment company AKA Virtual has announced that veteran gaming and entertainment executive Justin Scarpone has joined the company as its senior advisor. The announcement was made following the company's exhibition debut at the Tokyo Game Show 2023.
Scarpone's advisory role adds to up to his growing portfolio of companies to which he gives advisory as well, including game developer Amber, music agency Syn Music, and Tokyo-based Web3 startup Kreation.
Prior to these advisory roles, he served as the senior vice president and general manager for Asia-Pacific at Scopely, a US-based video game studio which focused free-to-play mobile games.
A large chunk of his leadership can be traced back to his 17-year stint with The Walt Disney Company, where he held various senior roles since joining the company back in 2002.
During his stay at the company, he was responsible for the company's various entertainment facets such as web presence, media distribution, interactive media, consumer product offerings, publishing business, among others. His most recent role for the company was being the senior vice president and general manager for Asia games.
In a press statement, Scarpone said that he is excited to work with AKA Virtual to provide their next generation storytelling and character development methods to gaming, video, and internet companies.
AKA Virtual, aside from being an entertainment company, is also a full-blown VTuber agency, with over 10 talents on its roster, composed of a mixture of Japanese and Indonesian talents.
