Popular Japanese singer and former actress Maki Goto has announced her debut as a VTuber, more specifically as a VTuber depicting her 15-year old self and also time travelling from the year 2001. You can follow her on her official YouTube channel, as well as her X (formerly Twitter) page.

The official announcement was made on her official YouTube channel, where she explains that in October this year, a mysterious character appeared on her smartphone. Turns out, it was her 15-year old self who appeared, stating that "she would work as a VTuber until she could find a way to return to the past".

As part of her online activities, she will also be participating at the sixth edition of Life Like a Live!, which will be held from November 10 to 12. Said event is considered to be one of the largest virtual idol festivals in Japan.

With her VTuber debut, she has published her virtual idol performance of the track "Love Machine", the 7th single of Morning Musume, which paved the way for her debut to the group back then.

Maki Goto has been part of many idol groups in the past, most notably being the sole member of Morning Musume's third generation, debuting back in 1999 and graduating in 2002. Following her graduation, she focused honing her solo career as an artist and occasionally being part of idol sub-units from Hello! Project such as Gomatto, Nochiura Natsumi, and Def.Diva.

She is currently signed with the music label Rhythm Zone under the Avex brand, a deal she signed back in 2008, following her graduation from Hello! Project back in 2007. Her solo discography is composed of the albums Makking Gold 1 (2003), 2 Paint It Gold (2004), 3rd Station (2005), How to Use Sexy (2007), Ai Kotoba (Voice) (2011), and Songs of You and Me! (2022).
